Free Conor McGhie

I was made aware of a petition this morning to release a boy jailed for three months after falling foul of the new anti sectarian laws in Scotland
I should make it clear. I abhor bigotry in all its forms, and also believe that McGhie should be condemned for his behaviour.

He should not be serving three months in prison for it though; should not have been publicly shamed, and should not have not had his life turned upside down, and be at risk of losing everything for singing a song, as offensive as it may be.

The galling thing is that the same Sherriff one week earlier sentenced a man in possession of 1400 indecent images of children to community service.

Yes, you read that right, the Sherriff handed out a lesser punishment to a paedophile, than he did to a boy singing an offensive song.

This is not North Korea. This boy should not be in jail.

Note that across Glasgow, the support for Republican sectarian terror gangs goes on unabated.

Not only is the law an ass, it is also being applied inconsistently.
Those who created this "Anti Sectarian" law, should not be in position, and should be pressured to explain how this law is being applied.

Contact your MSP and MP to ask why a paedophile can have a lesser punishment than a football fan shouting some obscenities.
