WP Archives: Murdoch, Salmond and Dani Garavelli (Feb 26 2012)

I’ll state up front that I dislike both Murdoch and Salmond, and I dislike their apparent arrangement to promote the nationalist cause in The Sun.
This was going to be the basis for a lengthy blogpost over the next few days. So, I started compiling some relevant information, bookmarks, and new reports, given the unofficial announcement of a referendum date in said rag.
Imagine my surprise, when Scotland on Sunday’s hatchet job on the relationship by Dani Garavelli referred to Murdoch’s heritage by including the terms “presbyterian”, and “calvinist”.
Quite what relevance his religion, or perceived religion is, is anyone’s guess.

Dani, of course, is a Roman Catholic, as she has previously written.
So what is she trying to do?
Paint the notorious right winger with the even more unfashionable tag in Scotland of “Protestant”? If so, why?
Being a Roman Catholic, Garavelli should be aware that Murdoch has a papal knighthood after donating $10M to the church.

That isn’t relevant to the relationship between Salmond and Murdoch either, but has been omitted.
More on the relationship between the two soon, but remember to read coverage in Scotland very carefully.
